The Old Fashioned was created over 100 years ago, and our Nutty Old Fashioned pays homage to the original by using the botanical flavors in our Black Walnut Bitters, and a slight smoky flavor from our Smoky Simple Syrup.
2 oz Rye Whiskey or Bourbon
½ oz Bluegrass Bitters™ Smoky Simple Syrup
¼ tsp (about 2 droppers) Bluegrass Bitters™ Black Walnut Bitters
¼ oz water
1 Orange peel, expressed around the rim
If you ask our founders what they drink on a typical night, it’s the Cherry Old Fashioned. While the recipe here is perfect for one person, ask Shawn, and he’ll tell you how to quickly scale this up for two, three or even more servings. If you want a drink to start with, this is our favorite.
2 oz Rye Whiskey or Bourbon
½ oz Bluegrass Bitters™ Smoky Simple Syrup
¼ tsp (about 2 droppers) Bluegrass Bitters™ Cherry Bitters
¼ oz Water
2 Cocktail cherries
1 Orange peel, expressed around the rim
The Manhattan is as classic as the Old Fashioned. It balances the bourbon flavors with vermouth for sweetness and then uses the Bitters to expand the flavor profile. We suggest Black Walnut, but any of our Bluegrass Bitters™ flavors will work well in this cocktail.
2 oz Blended Wheated Bourbon
1 oz Vermouth
¼ tsp (about 2 droppers) Bluegrass Bitters™ Black Walnut Bitters
1 Cocktail cherry
